Barely Got Past Bristow Friday
Bristow dug a huge hole for Collinsville's High School Wrestling Team Friday night jumping out to a 24-0 lead after the first 5 weight classes. The Cardinals got their first points of the evening with Jerry Harker's pin at 112 pounds. Collinsville also got pins by Daniel Walker, Clint Swango, and Briston Hilligos to help close the gap. Cardinals winning on points were J.T. Coggins (5 team-point major decision), Travis Rule and Jordan Scruggs. Every team point they earned help Collinsville fight back to move to the next round (Saturday 1pm Feb. 12th at the UMAC again).
Collinsville was behind on the scoreboard the entire dual until the last wrestler's hand was raised (Jordan Scruggs) and Collinsville pulled out a 35-34 team victory. The evening started with many other schools (not just 3A) paying attention to their own mat with wrestling at the same time on 8 different mats. By the time Collinsville got a pin in the next to last weight (by Briston Hillogos) every eye (remaining) in the house was on the only dual not completed with Bristow still hanging on to a 34-32 lead over Collinsville. The UMAC announcer even did the play-by-play as Jordan held a slim 2-1 lead in the final period before finishing with a 4-1 score to help move Collinsville into the next round.Collinsville will wrestle Cushing Saturday.
