ONG Tax Question?
I noticed on my ONG gas bill that I'm being charged the wrong county sales tax. I live in Tulsa Co. (1.017%) but they are charging me for Rogers Co. (1.5%). I called them and they said they show Collinsville as being in Rogers Co. and refused to listen to me. I also noticed that I'm being charged a gross receipts tax (they say this goes to Collinsville City that is not the problem) which they are also charging city & county taxes on. Can they charge tax on a tax?

I wonder how many other people in Collinsville are being charged to much taxes.

Susan B. (Aug. 11, 2005)
Ted Note: Susan, it may be a few days before I can dig into this one. Parts of Collinsville to the west are in Rogers County but the majority of Collinsville addresses are in Tulsa County. Maybe another cvilleok.com viewer can help out on the proper tax rate for each or taxes on a tax (or franchise fee)
Letter To The Editor
The Citizens for Reliable Gas Service would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the citizens of Collinsville for their vote of confidence in Tuesday night’s election allowing Oklahoma Natural Gas Company to remain the natural gas service provider to the City. The citizens’ decision to keep ONG as their gas service provider is a victory for safe and reliable gas service. We believe this decision is also a victory for the City as it moves forward to achieve Collinsville’s goals for continued growth and prosperity.

In addition, the Committee would like to recognize Ted Wright for his coverage of the campaign on his website www.cvilleok.com. Ted spent many hours attending meetings presented by both sides and even longer hours writing the articles for his website informing the Citizens of Collinsville of the many details of the issues.

Sincerely,

Kyle Smalygo, David Chester, Jay Crutchfield, and Sherry Neph

I appreciate the note of recognition for my campaign coverage (above) but it just part of my job to try to fairly cover all issues on this community web site. -- Ted Wright
