Quilt
Unveiled ... Tickets on Sale
|
Bill
Thomas (center) and Jeanie Barnes (right) of the C.E.F. present members of the
Patch Work Quilters with a check for their time and materials for creating the
quilt for the Education Foundation. Tickets for a chance at the quilt (which
will be given away on Founder's Day in September) are $1 each or 6 for $5. The
quilt was designed by Loretta Overholt. The individual panels were hand quilted
by the Patch Work Quilters that meet at the Collinsville Library. The machine
work was done by Donna Joplin at the Quilted Garden in Skiatook.
C.E.F.'s
quilt is titled: "Collinsville Education The Center Of It All". The
photo above shows the detail in the center portion of the quilt.
Funds
raided by the Collinsville Education Foundation are used to provide grants to
teachers in the Collinsville Schools for academic projects. Over $45,000 in
grants have been provided since the organization started in 1998. The non-profit
organization also sells caps, afghans, and ornaments. The group discussed the
potential of holding a run or walk this year to raise funds. The group will
also continue their annual golf tournament.
