Collinsville
is positioned for economic growth ... whether we want it or not
Roy
Cartwright discussed the process and stiff competition in attracting businesses
(& jobs) to Collinsville. He cited the highly successful example of Tahlequah
as an approach Collinsville might want consider.
Ron
Pennington of the Commerce Dept. followed Mr. Cartwright with an emphasis on
the statistical information that is available for the complex process of drawing
new businesses to Collinsville.
Mr.
Cartwright has owned Tahlequah Abstract & Title since 1987. Before that
Roy (raised in Skiatook) had a successful banking career followed with a stint
in Washington D.C. as an economic specialist and advisor for the Bureau of Indian
Affairs, Dept. of Commerce, Secretary of the Interior and the Federal Housing
Authority. Both Cartwright and Pennington stressed that Collinsville would need
to make a serious committment of leadership, community involvement and massive
preparation to attract jobs here while competiting against all the communities
in several surrounding states.
