"Blue Moon"
Second Full Moon
In July 2004

The full moon in Collinsville Saturday night (July 31st) was considered a "blue moon" as it was the second full moon of the calendar month. The first full moon this July was on July 2nd. The moon does not actually appear blue in color. There have been several different definition of blue moon over the years. The next occurance will be in June 2007.

I was unable to get a photo of the 2004 "Blue Moon" that showed any features, so I searched my archives and found a better photo from last year, although it was not a "blue moon". -- Ted
