In the regularly scheduled board meeting for the Collinsville Public Schools, Independent District I-6, final details were discussed leading to a May 4th sale of bonds approved for upcoming school improvements.

The school board approved expenditure of $119,388 from the general fund, $2966 from the building fund and $15,008 from the child nutrition fund.

Among the fund raiser activities approved by the board was a boy's volleyball event called Power Buff (as compared to the girl's Powder Puff football event).

Bids from Robert Cottingham for a surplus trailer and a surplus suburban were accepted. The Eastside Baptist Church bids for two surplus buses were also accepted. No other bids were received.

Three sets of bids were received for the demolition of the Midddle School cafeteria and media center, and a wooden classroom structure at the high school. The $14,196 combined bid of Specialized Services was accepted by the board for work to be done in June 2004. The combined bids of Christman Excavating ($21,430) and Lee Fugate ($32,500) had also been received.

The board approved a plan to suspend the middle school breakfast program during the construction phase. A limited alternative will have snacks and cereal available. The lunch program will continue with students eating at nearby First Baptist Church until the new cafeteria is completed.

The resignation of Maddy Lane (Herald Elementary teacher) was accepted.

The board went into executive session to discuss employment or non-re-employment of Certified Personnel for the 2004/2005 School year.
