The Collinsville Crimson
Cadets added one more sweepstakes award to their collection today in Stillwater
on the campus of Oklahoma State University. This made the 20th consecutive
year that the Cadets have won the sweepstakes award. It takes a year long
effort to win the sweepstakes. Bands must first get a superior rating in marching
at the regional contest, which this year was held in Skiatook. Then they must
receive a superior rating at the district contest in concert band, which was
held in Bartlesville. Bands are then qualified for state and a chance to win
the sweepstakes. Collinsville did this today with superior ratings in playing,
and then again in sight reading. In sight reading, they are given music they
have never seen before, and have 5 minutes to go over it, their directors
point out complications in the music, and then they have to play it for the
judges.

Dulin (Assistant Director) conducts the Cadets in their first arrangement.

in their second arrangement.
